I am the opposite of silk, so sit on me if you dare for the cat may already be there!
Yew might find me flexible if you have split my name thus far.
While a tiger eyed its prey and an eagle raged in a thunderous sky a river of darkness fell upon a burning sun and the wolf cried tis a time to die, thus did the angels weep as power and triumph in those golden eyes did creep.

^Too hard I suppose & I can't think of a clue so answer is:

It's a Nile - land.

New one (easier I think):

I am not of flesh and blood, Yet have I many a bone;
No limbs, except one leg, And can't stand on that alone.
My friends are many and dwell in all lands of the human race;
But they poke my poor nose into the mud, and shamefully spatter my face.
Thrust me into each other's ribs, stick me in gutter and rut;
I have never a window, and never a door, yet I oft myself am shut.

I was hoping it might be an umbrella but that doesn't quite fit.
Could it perhaps be a Railway track?

Right first time - it is an umbrella Monsoon.

If it didn't "quite fit" it is probably the ancient terminology - the book I am pinching these from was published in 1922 :)

Your turn.

I am called a man, but i will never take a wife.
They always give me a body, but will not give me life.
A mouth fits me just fine, but doesn't bring breath.
Water gives me life but the sun brings only a slow death.
What am I?

[b7] Now there's an idea. I could patent that. An outside dunny with a sun roof, and maybe solar panels for it's own hot water service, with a miniature hand basin and a......ummmm! still thinking. :lol:

I drink the blood of the Earth,
and the trees fear my roar,
yet a man may hold me in his hands.
