I really hope his next book will be better than the last one... I enjoyed The Quest. I only liked the first and middle part of Assegai. I only liked the first 100 pages of Those in Peril. So if this continues I will probably only like the cover of his next novel. I really enjoyed Triumph of the Sun by the way. Some argue that his downfall began there, but I disagree. Aside from that, for me he clearly peaked at Monsoon.

Well it's been 18 months since the last book (Those in peril) - I haven't heard if there is another book on the way - does anybody have an inkling of a book under preparation. He wrote a book a year when he started out, more recently it was extended to one every two years, maybe now he's approaching his 80th birthday it will become one every three years or even retirement!!!

I never even bothered to read "Those in Peril" after I read the reviews. I didn't care a whole lot about the two that came before. Maybe he is just too old to think up new ideas. I always wanted him to write a book that would fill in the gaps between the Courtneys who went into the bush and Waite Courtney.
