Just finished watching the exact event you refer to - a difference of 2.2 seconds between the silver and bronze

Australia 26 Medals - 5 Gold - 12 Silver - 9 Bronze
Netherlands 15 Medals - 5 Gold - 4 Silver - 6 Bronze

How is it that a tiny country like Jamaica can produce this number of 100/200m champions?

Howdy Tedd - I watched the 200m yesterday and did not see it coming - Gold Silver and Bronze for the Jamaicas what a tremendous accomplishment for such a small country (island).I think we witnessed one of the greatest moments in sports history and I wonder how many more decades it will be before the world record is broken again, dont think we will see it happen in our lifetime.

Party in Jamaica Tedd - be happy to buy you an ice cold Red Stripe beer and a plate of Jerk Chicken.

That would be nice John - I was in Trinidad & Tobago for training during the war (WW2) but didn't even approach close to Jamaica - however, the "in-thing" then was Rum and Coke but I guess your offer of a Red Stripe would be quite acceptable (I don't know about the Jerky chicken though - sounds too much like a bird having a fit)
As today is the last of the Games for another four years we'd better make the most of it - the marathon is a fitting ending. All the best tedd
