Alexandra Fuller has written two good to great novels based upon her life.
I really liked Scribbling The Cat

'Don't lets go to the dogs tonight' must be one of the best books on war and childhood ever written. It describes the life of a young girl growing up on a farm in Rhodesia during the 1970's war. Excellent stuff.
