What book are you reading at the moment?

Straken by Terry Brooks.
Only an average read as a few errors are coming into his work these days.
While a tiger eyed its prey and an eagle raged in a thunderous sky a river of darkness fell upon a burning sun and the wolf cried tis a time to die, thus did the angels weep as power and triumph in those golden eyes did creep.

When the Lion feeds.

Its... Its.... :?

Its nearly hitting the spot but I feel the writer could do better.
Admittedly only at chapter 7 just now.

Given this was WS first book, thought I better read it first. :!:

So...out of interest what would you watch first:

Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menace

or

Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope

If you don't understand it's not as criptic as you may think!

Ahh...based on your answer you should of read Birds of Prey first. Not that it really matters.

"When the Lion Feeds" was WS's first novel but it is not the first, chronogically speaking, in the Courtney series. Much like "A New Hope" was George Lucas' first film but not the first in the series.

But as I said it doesn't really make that much difference. Birds of Prey, Monsoon, Blue Horizon is almost a sub-triliogy (that's the second time I've written that in a post today!) of the Courtney series.

NB: I can't claim the Star Wars comparison as my own, I read it somewhere and thought it was a good way of describing it!

Skystone by Jack Whyte. He's a great speaker and story-teller, so I thought I'd give his books a try :)

I've read the first three of the Camulod Chronicles, the first-person perspective gets a bit annoying at times, and every chapter seems to end on a high, but generally they're good.

I'm reading The Magicians Guild by Trudi Canavan (nearly Caravan) at the mo, not a lot is happening. Got Queen of the Damned to read after that, then no more 'til Crimbo.

Random Avatar:

Only a problem for those ppl who joined early on (nefer, bee and rhodesy). There was a known problem with this and I was under the assumption that it was corrected.

Avatar Sizes:

All the free forums on this server have access to a common avatar folder - if you upload an avatar it goes into this directory. Admins can change the max file size so some of the avatars in the common directory will be pretty big files.

I've changed the avatar settings so that you can have 100*100 and 15k if that helps.

I'm reading "The Eagle's Brood", the 3rd book in Jack Whyte's serious, and damn! It's finally getting good!

The historical detail is amazing!
