Ballantyne Family tree

I haven't yet read "The Triumph of the Sun" so maybe there are some missing family members.

I have just finished The Triumph of The Sun, and I'm sorry to say, the family tree cannot be extended or added to.

Spoiler:

There were only three Ballantyne's mentioned by name. Penrod, his elder brother Peter and Peter's wife Jane. Penrod of course married Amber, so that's makes it four...

As far as I can recall none of these were mentioned in the other Ballantyne books, so I can't put them in the tree.

I remember when reading "The Angels weep" I found it a little awkward that Leila and Sam got involved because of the age difference. I must go back to check again, but I'm pretty sure I'm right.

Found it! This is a description of Leila. It is about 3/4 into the book:

Her skin was unnaturally pale, inherited from her father, Robert St. John.

Sorry Ramon I didnt mean to imply you had made a mistake
just that the ages seemed to be messed up a little because Johnathan (bawu) was around the same age as Robert st john so craig and sam are two generations on from leila its something that has always bothered me a bit so when I saw it on your tree I had to comment.

I can't remember now if it was ever stated that they were related, but when I did the family tree, I filled in all the names as I was reading. And the result shows that they were related, however pretty far apart.

I see that the new forum layout has cut the family tree. I will try to paste a new picture that fits.

GoogleEarth; what a tool. WS's account for detail and accuracy is so easily varified with the access of such technology these days.

Previously (in the Courtney's) I have 'eyeballed' geographic features as illustrated in his books - with GoogleEarth with indeed uncanny accuracy.

Along with previous correspondents on this matter, it would be great to track the progress of Zouga's team in FF. with a map!

It contains the full text of the book and allows you to search for a word, or words, through the entire book. For example, if you search for 'Moffat' it gives you the eight occasions when that name appears. Incidently this highlights that Ralph refers to Robert Moffat as 'grandfather' on two occasions, and as his 'great-grandfather' once.

It seems to take a while to search, but that is probably because my computer is antediluvian.

Hi all. I'm just reading Assegai and note that Leon Courtney (Penrod Ballantyne's nephew) is in Wilber's official family tree, and I too was wondering where Penrod fits, especially in relation to Zouga Ballantyne. Judging by time period he should be a generation younger than Zouga and seeing as both spent years in Africa in the British military I'm guessing they could be close relations. Any ideas??
