Soapstone Birds and great zimbabwe

Postby tadh23 » Wed Jan 03, 2007 1:41 pm

For those interested in the soapstone birds found in great zimbabwe. a picture of one can be found here

http://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/zimb/zimb_1.htm

apparently all 8 never left the country (at least according to mugabe) and Mr. Rhodes did actually aquire at least one... I am sure there is more info out there.

Great zimbabwe (after looking at pictures) doesnt seem to be all that hard to find despite zouga's difficulty, some of that artistic license i suppose. but more info on the city itself, and the accepted builders of the city can be found at

Awesome, thanks! I didn't expect the birds to look anything like that...

Wow thanks. I was expecting something more menacing, anyone know of where you can see this, a museum perhaps?
