So, how many people want to be a salvage master after reading this?

Aint read it yet so can't say. Don't think i'll ever be interested in the high sea's though. I've read Birds of Prey through to Blue Horizon and the books were some of the best i've ever read but still, i have no desire to sail or anything like that.

hiya there, John R,

why not give it a quick go, its a short, sharp, to the point little book that once again illustrates Wilbur Smiths mastery of the written word.

its also nice as a breather between the Courtneys and Ballantynes.

aanyhoo enjoy if you get time

bye for now...........

It's tempting but i think i'll give it a miss for now, i'm enjoying the Courtney saga too much at the moment to break away!

A very good stand alone that was a very pleasant surprize. I found this one in a used book store just after I had found WS. The artwork on the cover looked like a cheesy romance novel from the 70's but what was inside was a story typical of WS with the underdog overcoming long odds to win the important things in the WS universe Respect, Money, Independance and a Woman's Love. 7 out of 10.

A little off-top. Just about hungry of sea, the high sea you know. Well, I`ve been there. Not as salvage master, of course. Just as a seafare. And I`ve been in SA(Durban) once. So what you think did I first outthere? I asked a man: where could I find bookstore with Wilbur Smith`s books. And he told me! That is funny but truth. Well, I left Durban. And I left the high sea for a while. Still I miss them both. Gonna be back sooner or later.
P.S. Whoever read this the post -- Happy New Year to you.

And to you too, ARC! haven't seen you around for a while - it's good to see you back :)

Hwo cool that you've been to sea! I've been too - as a ferry customer, lol!! Must be something else to see the S. African coastline loom closer when you're out to sea :)

"High Seas Adventure"
This was my first Wilbur Smith and the one that got me hooked to this writer. Action, adventure, romance, exotic locations. This book has it all.
After reading several other Smith books you realized most of them have similar structure; roaring action at the beginning and at the end with a somehow sallow middle part. But still highly enjoyable.
