Shout at the Devil - the film

Postby Monsoon » Fri Sep 29, 2006 11:30 am

For anybody who lives in the UK and is interested, the film of Shout at the Devil is showing on Channel 5 tomorrow afternoon Sat 30th at 1pm.
If you don't live in the Uk i can only offer my apologies, but don't worry it is not a classic but worth watching all the same.
While a tiger eyed its prey and an eagle raged in a thunderous sky a river of darkness fell upon a burning sun and the wolf cried tis a time to die, thus did the angels weep as power and triumph in those golden eyes did creep.

A film that is only memorable for the pair of eyes clearly visible inside a ridiculous crocodile outfit.

I didn't see this post yesterday, but happened to come across the film whilst channel hopping earlier. Not the greatest film - very cheesy, but quite loyal to the book, apart from the way Flynn dies IIRC.

does anyone have any opinions on which of Smith's books would make the best film.

I think probably Eagle in the Sky (Probably appeals to more people- action AND romance)

If we're only talking about standalones then "Hungry as the Sea" or "The Eye of the Tiger" should be good films!

I agree! I can see "Hungry as the Sea" directed by James Cameron or Spielberg. It would be a hell of a spectacle with the technical advances moton pictures have today.

I'd love to see any of those 3 books made into film, but i doubt whether anybody would go with 'Eagle in the Sky' which is a shame.

But I think that i read somewhere that Wilbur Smith was so disappointed with this film that he asked for his name to be taken off the credits in the film.
