New films out this Winter

Postby Penitent » Thu Mar 08, 2007 3:08 pm

There is an old movie, 60s I think; called "The 300 Spartans", this is the same story but for what i hear with lots of choreographed violence and gore.

“300” Opened BIG in the US. 70 million dollars over the weekend. First “official” blockbuster of the year. One interesting aspect of the movie is that not a single scene was filmed outdoors. Looks like we are coming to a new era of filmmaking.

Oh yes, forgot to post my review of "300".

BRILLIANT!

No plot, script to speak of, but it was still spell-binding. Every frame was filled with energy - brilliantly done!

To me it looks quite strange from the trailers. The colour reminds me somewhat of Sin City. Apart from that, looks good!

Yes, they used the same technique as "Sin City", another comic adaptation. everything is computer generated.

I saw 300 tonight and thought it was good. A tad slow and not really mind blowing but a good way to waste a few hours!

I just bought "Blood Diamond" and really enjoyed it. You folks were right it was just like a WS story.

I saw "I am Legend" on Friday night and I quite liked it, although it did leave me a little depressed.

It wasn't really a tense film, there wasn't a great deal of action and there didn't seem to be a morale to the (pretty depressing) story. I guess what I'm saying is that it was a little shallow and had the potential to be a lot better. Loved the dog though!

Am I right it saying that it is based on book? Is the book better and does it have more of a serious message that the film has completely lost?

From the trailers, it looks a lot like 28 Days Later. Which, BTW, is a pretty good movie :D

I do recall reading somewhere that I am Legend is based on a book, but I've never read it.

Yes, it's based on a book by Sci Fi writer Richard Matheson. And I believe this is the third move based on the book. The previous versions were called "The last man on Earth" and "The Omega Man" with good old Charlton Heston (very good movie without the special effects of today)

I read that I am legend was an adaption of the book, while 28 days later was loosley based on the book, hence the similarities. The more I hear about the plot the less keen I am to see it. I might still go anyway.

I just won tickets to Alien vs. Predator requiem . it looks pretty crap, but you cant beat over 100 million dollars worth of violence
