New films out this Winter

Postby John R » Fri Nov 10, 2006 12:34 pm

Anyone looking forward to new films that are out soon?

Am looking forward to the new bond, looks different to the others. More gritty. Also just seen Borat. What a film! So controversial yet amazingly funny! Laughed so much that by the time i came out of the cinema my throat was killing me!

Great thread Mr R, (reps)!

Bond looks awesome! I'll be seeing it towards the end of the month (once I've done my exams). Borat...I want to see it, but I'll be waiting for it to appear on TV next year - not really big a screen experience.

OMG I can't believe you are going to watch Bond!! He's so not Bond! You can't be those Bond purist people (like myself ) I actually don't think that man looks like Bond. They took a perfectly good movie and stuck a not-so-good-looking bloke in the title role :S

I did watch Babel, which was super intense. I would highly recommend it. All the actors were brilliant, and the story-lines were so gritty and real. It's rated 18A in Canada, very graphic at some points, so don't take your kids or anything. :D

Am planning on Borat. I hope I'm not too sicked out by it!

There is a fair chance that you will be sickened by Borat. I'm amazed it's not been banned. Some of the issues he brings up, well, let's say a lot of people will be offended. Not wanting to give anything away but in 1 scene he hitch-hikes a ride with 3 college students and they all get drunk and say a few things they really shouldn't have and now i just read in the news that these kids are sueing the film makers. Here's the story :-

As for Bond, i agree that Daniel Craig is nothing like the old Bonds (he has blond hair for a start!) but i am still excited about seeing this film, it's gotta be a hell of a lot better than the last Bond film, what a load of tosh that was....invisible car and the rest of it!

I reckon you're gonna change your mind once you've seen it! Everyone moaned about him to start off with, now the following seems to be a typical opinion:

Daniel Craig is not a good Bond. He's a great Bond. Specifically, he is 007 as conceived by Ian Fleming - a professional killing machine, a charming, cold-hearted patriot with a taste for luxury. Craig is the first actor to really nail 007's defining characteristic: he's an absolute swine

Well I watched Team America, which I hated while watching it and then loved it when it was over! So I dunno... Borat may be one of those movies, & it may not.

As for Bond, I've heard similar stories about how the movie is quite good. I may have to watch it & make my own opinion, but I won't like doing it...

Any other movies that you may be interested in seeing?

Well the departed is suppose to be fantastic but i think i'll wait til it comes out on video. The prestige looks kind of interesting i gues...and cristian Bale is one of the best actors around so...

Well i went to see Bond tonight, and thought it was quite enjoyable. Definitely better than the last few Bond films which just went way over the top with technology and stuff (invisible car just took the piss) this film was alot more brass and in your face. More realistic, Daniel Craig does really well considering he is not what Bond is meant to look like. Quite a long film (around 2 and a half hours) and is a bit difficult to follow at times. Overall though, it's a good out and out action film, well worth seeing!

Yeah the new Bond film doesn't really appeal to me, I like some of the old stuff but I guess you have to be a fan. We are on school holidays now and there is hardly anything I want to see! Maybe Borat, but i don't know... Why can't Pirates 3 just come out now!

I saw Bond on Tuesday night and I really liked it! It was a complete departure from the last couple of movies, which IMO was a good thing. My only criticism was that it was a wee bit too long.

It still had the hot women, the fast cars and the humour. Daniel Craig was good!

The most unintentionally funny quote was:
"If all that was left of you was your smile and your little finger, you'd be more of a man than anyone else I know"
Aw, thanks!! LoL! I'm super picky about knowing things about movies... I usually want to know nothing about the movie, including dialogue. The only thing I need is the bare-bones one sentence summary of what it's about.

Damn, I'm so tempted to look at the spoiler.. :( Lol!

Films I'm looking forward to are The Holiday and Tenacious D's Pick of Destiny. If you can find the common link between them, you'll know why I want to see them ;) Lol, I'm a fan of his.

Anyone miss me? 8) Lol! Kidding. Sorry about not being on for ages. Just been trying to establish myself in life (get a job, sort out future plans, etc.). I should have some more time to come back on here though :)

Edit: What's the reputation thing? :?

Edit2: Wow, I didn't know you could do that.. I've just changed my name. I used to be Meren, but Rivaan is a universal online name that I use, that I made up.

The Pursuit Of Happyness with Will Smith looks great and I'm looking forward to seeing if he can pull off a serious roll without playing the lovable smartass.

Borat : cultural learnings of America for make benefit glorious nation Khazakstan... yes John. It had/will offend alot of people. But it hurt my abdominal i was laughing so hard. i Believe Sacha Baron Cohen owes me medical compensation for torn muscles and broken ribs. my oath that was hilarious. he is an exceedingly creative man
