And I thought it was GREAT!

I love the way Wilbur describes the desert and its effects in the book. I went to Tunisia last year and went through the Saraha Desert, and the way he describes it is so accurate! He really brings that story to life with his descriptions, for example, when talking abuot the Nile, I think he says something like it looking like "a spill of molten metal from the furnace". Truly amazing.

Anyway this book inspired me to start learning heiroglyphs aswell!

OMG Ifinally got into Warlock I spent two hours in the bath with it and my son had to drag me out to make him food. I dont know why I couldnt get into it before.

I second that, River God is wonderful. you should not miss it.

I forget if i commented on this, but it was a bit strange to read Warlock from a third person POV. i had read RG long before Warlock came out, so i was used to to reading from Taita's POV. But i got used to it after sometime. not that it was a bad thing.

Hey I didnt even notice that but maybe its why I found Warlock so Hard to get into <because I was used to Taitas commentary??

I prefer it when it isn't written from Taita's POV, but yet River God is my fave...I hope you love Warlock!

I finally read Warlock hee hee

So when you get past the fact that its not written in the first person and that Taita can do magic ( which does not bother me at all but I know it bothers some of you) what we have here is another excellent spell binding Wilbur novel with all of the wonderful things we have come to expect. the treachery revenge love lust hate , the marvelously drawn characters which we feel so much empaethy with but most of all the exitement. When Nefer ran the red road my pulse quickened and when Mintaka refused to consumate her marriage I cheered . The KIng is Still the King.

Yeahhh... way to go, Mintaka, for refusing that horrid Trok (or is it Tronk?)!

I'd rather be with Nefie any day. Well seriously, who wouldn't?

I also thought Naja was a rather interesting villain. he was so irresistible physically, yet downright evil. :twisted:

You're forgetting Ramon... and Sean Courtney Jnr (who I can't really make my mind up about!)

Usually the super devious characters are lookers, but the plain old nasty ones are ugly.

Intef and Naja, for example (and to keep this thread on topic!)

Hmmm... did WS mention Intef's physical characteristics? i think taita mentioned occasionally that he was handsome, but i dont think WS expands on it the way he did with, say, Naja. maybe that's why i was kind of 'turned on' by him (Naja, i mean).
But in real life i sure wouldn't go out with someone like Naja. No way.

I think it's strange and cool how we can picture the characters so easily. Like with Naja, I automatically think he is old and evil-looking but yeah, I think he was actually meant to be all handsome with muscles and whatever. I still hate him though
